Non-swimmer Breakthrough
I’m terrified of water. I had a few bad experiences as a child so at the ripe age of 37 I never learned how to swim. I never go past 4 feet of water. I booked this excursion for my daughter’s 17 birthday. Although I paid for 2 people in my mind I knew that I would stay on the beach and read my book I was fully prepared. And then I meet Halie.
She was calm cool and so reassuring that she would help me cast my fears aside and that I would be able to see some action. Who was this women? Did she not understand that I’m unable to float? Maybe I should tell her of the trauma? Maybe I should tell her that I HAVE NEVER put my face underwater. Maybe I should stress that I’ve tried before and all attempts failed. I really do not want to mess the adventure up for others.
I told her.
She simply smiled and said Maile this is going to be amazing and your going to do so well. There were 8 people in this group.
I was frustrated because as we entered the water she really was attentive, reassuring and so calm. Constantly whispering reassuring messages to me to build my confidence.
Finally after some time I floated with my life vest on and I felt great! She congratulated me and life was good… so I thought.
She came close and said take off your life vest. Panic set in. I obliged and just stood there for awhile. She grabbed me and said “I need you to do what you’ve already being doing, you’re amazing and you can do this.
And I did it.
I left the water today feeling free of years of fear. When I return home I’m signing up for swim lessons AGAIN because of what was taught here today.
Halie changed my life forever. Oh yeah the turtles and fish were cool as well. ✌🏾
Non-swimmer Breakthrough
Halie with Adventure Mermaid was awesome. She was nice, welcoming, supportive, professional and the list can go on . . . We were a group of nonswimmers and she made sure that everyone understood what they were doing and felt comfortable before allowing us to experience a little more to our comfort level on our own. She had one individual that was a lot more nervous than others and she made sure that she took her by the hand as long as she needed to until she felt comfortable. Even while dealing with the one that was more nervous when she seen me have a bit of nervousness she then took me by the hand as well and escorted both of us across the water. When they say leave no man or woman behind that was her. I now have a sense of comfort that I didn’t have before and it’s all because of Halie. I thank you for everything and please don’t forget about me when your clothing line releases☺️.
Non-swimmer Breakthrough
I’m not a swimmer at all, so I was a little nervous how my snorkeling experience would go. Let me just say this Halie has tremendous teaching skills and patience, she had explained everything so throughly and made me feel so comfortable doing this! I loved every second of it, it was my first time ever doing snorkeling and it definitely won’t be my last! Thanks Halie, once I came back to PR again I’ll definitely be getting in touch with you!
